Clean lines, sophisticated cuts, and always on trend – classic characteristics of city chic style. London-based mommy fashion blogger Kerstin of Lux Mumma is the embodiment of this look, and she’s someone I think you should know.
Kerstin just had her first child, a sweet baby girl named Ava Grace. She documents their journey via her blog and her gorgeously curated Instagram account. She offers up serious style inspiration for moms and moms-to-be who want to look effortlessly put together, and I’m going to show you how to get her city chic style.
Regarding her own style, Kerstin says comfort is key, and she prefers neutrals over bold colors.
“As a mum, I tend to lean toward classic, neutral, and comfortable pieces. My wardrobe mainly consists of neutral monochromatic colours like black, white, and grey.
Comfort is very important, especially during and after pregnancy, so no fussy designs! My favourite item is this season’s stretch midi dress, which is so versatile, comfortable, and perfect for layering before and after your baby bump.”
It’s not hard to dress the part. As with any look, you just have to know what to pair together.
It’s more tailored than flowy. It’s more paired down than over-the-top.
Take a look at how Kerstin matches her pieces. When she was pregnant, she chose a form-fitting bodycon dress with a tailored blouse knotted over her bump. This pairing makes the most gorgeous, versatile, and sophisticated look that can be worn day or night, with flats or heels.
Now that she’s a new mom, her city chic style includes pairing this beautifully-tailored jumpsuit below, with a timeless layering of necklaces, and a diaper bag that doesn’t scream “I’m a diaper bag“.
She can wear this outfit to brunch, lunch, shopping, or dinner, and it’s something you can also very easily put together. You don’t have to be a mommy fashion blogger to look the part!
And last but definitely not least, Kerstin braves potential spit-ups and overflowing diapers in a gorgeous all-white outfit. You can still wear all the colors you love when you have a baby. There’s always bleach or a trip to the dry cleaner in case of disaster. (wink)
I encourage you to take some of Kerstin’s mommy fashion blogger style inspiration and create your own outfits that embody her look.
