Five homemade coffee beauty recipes for glowing skin and shiny hair.
I love my coffee so much, you could just hook it up to me via an IV drip, for all I care. I love everything about it. The taste, the aroma, the way it makes my house feel homey and cozy, and the way it of course gives me that first perk in the early hours of the morning, before anyone else in my house awakens.
But have you ever done anything else with your coffee besides drinking it? Did you even know about all the beauty benefits it offers? Well, let’s go down a rabbit hole of coffee as a beauty product.

Pucker Up, Babe.
Get your kissers ready for some action – or just in fine shape. Coffee grounds are an excellent exfoliator. Try the below lip scrub once a week for a super soft pout.
Mix together 1/4 tsp coffee grounds + 1/4 tsp coconut oil for its wonderful moisturizing ability. Dab a small amount onto your lips and rub for 15-30 seconds. Rinse. Follow with a moisturizing treatment. I adore the Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath for its thick, stay-put consistency. But you can also use something as light as this Burt’s Bees moisturizer or even a simple touch of Aquaphor.
Scrub Your Tootsies.
Your feet do a lot of work in a day (especially if you’re getting in your 10k steps) so it feels great to pamper them. You’ll want a scrub with a little more grit than what you use on your delicate lips or facial skin.
We found this wonderful recipe here. Mix equal parts coffee grounds and coarse sugar, along with a tablespoon of olive oil. This is a great one to do in the shower, but please be sure to sit down, so you don’t slip and fall. Pretty feet are not worth that disaster. If you want to stay on the safe side, just do this one pedicure-style with a foot bath, and not in the shower.
Scour Your Face and Body.
You’re basically going to smell good enough to eat with this recipe. In fact, I had to imagine that it might make a nice drink, if the coffee was brewed and the ingredients were mixed. LOL! A good coffee drink is always on my mind.
Mix 1/2 coffee grounds, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Get in the shower, dampen your skin, and rub this exfoliating mixture all over your face and body. Then rinse and feel how soft your skin feels! Just be sure to really make sure all the shower and oil are rinsed down the drain – and again, be incredibly careful not to slip in the shower! (That’s the mom in me making sure you’re safe).
Get That Shiny Hair You’ve Always Wanted.
It turns out, you really can bathe in coffee, if you so please. At the very least, your hair can benefit from being fully drenched in the stuff.
According to Eco Salon, once a week, you can brew an extra pot of coffee and let it cool – or grab the leftover coffee from your morning brew – and pour it over your hair, working through with your fingers to really coat the strands. Leave it in for 15-20 minutes and then rinse out with your normal shampoo/conditioner routine. Your hair will be extra shiny!
Give Your Scalp A Scrub.
Did you know that coffee has been shown to stimulate hair growth? You can read more about the science here. But listen, my hair is somewhat thin, so I’m giving this a try. Twice weekly, grab some grounds and massage them into your scalp in the shower before you shampoo. Then, just rinse and follow with your shampoo and conditioner. Soon, your hair should be feeling a little thicker!
It’s time, LUXYMOMs®, to caffeinate from head to toe!
