You have to try these fun DIY yard games with your kids.
Tis the season for playing outside in the yard. Long days give way to late evenings, and we can spend endless hours enjoying these warmer months. I remember playing yard games like water balloons with my friends when I was young. Yard games are an excellent way to leave good memories for your kids. Here are some unique, DIY yard games to spice up your summer fun.

Water Balloon Painting, $12.42
Pour washable paint into a big bowl and dip your water balloons in the paint. Set up a small canvas on a kids’ easel, and use your imagination to create a masterpiece of water balloon art on the canvas. This is such a fun way to spend a day!
DIY Outdoor Kerplunk Game
Materials: You will need a metal fence, ball pit balls, wooden dowels, small zip ties, and spray paints to make the Kerplunk game at home. It is a jumbo size yard game where you can have multiple players. It is also really cute and kids will love it.
DIY Lawn Twister – Paint, $19.99
Spray paint those classic Twister dots on the lawn. You can use a ruler to make a straight line of dots and space the dots however you’d like.
Water Balloon Fight, $8.41
This one is my personal favorite. Fill up a massive number of balloons, team up, and start the fight! Whoever gets hit by the balloon is out, until the last person (aka the winner) is standing.
Bucket Toss
These buckets work great for a DIY outdoor bucket toss game. Keep the buckets at least 10 feet away and change the layouts on each game. Make the rules with the kids, and whoever puts the most balls in the buckets or throw them the farthest wins.
Bowling with Empty Plastic Bottles
Collect recycled bottles for a few days, and now you are ready to make bowling pins. Have your kids paint the bottles to make them look like bowling pins. Nicely layout the bottles and grab a tennis ball or a beach ball to use it as a bowling ball.
Pool Noodle Toss
This is a friendly play station to set it up near the pool, and your kids can practice eye-hand coordination. You will need a bulk package of foam noodles and duct tape to assemble.
Giant Jenga, $99.99
Giant Jenga is an authentic, eye-catching game to play with your kids. It is an excellent game for building decision-making skills and thinking strategically.
Soap Boat Racing
Soap boat racing will make the time fly for your kids. Your kids will slide a soap boat down a rain gutter while the water runs down. This is a great team-building and competitive activity for the kiddos.
DIY Bubble Blower
I guarantee this handmade plastic bubble blower will sure bring loads of laughter to the house. All you need is an empty plastic bottle, a washcloth, dish soap, and a rubber band. Start a competition to see who can make the longest bubble!
Hopscotch
This is an old school game that I we’ve all probably played in elementary school. Grab a chalkboard, draw the layout on the driveway, grab a washable spray paint, and draw it on your yard. Now you only need a rock to throw, and good balance!
