Holiday styles for dinner parties.
Cocktails, stilettos, and dresses, Oh My! As if the holiday season was not packed enough – enter, the holiday parties. Now, are we talking about the ugly sweater parties? No no no, we are talking about the dinner parties where being chic is a must and champagne flows from the heavens.
Sweet bliss. Sweet escape from the cookie decorating detail. Bring on the glam! But, what to wear? This holiday season, we have decided to give you a few ideas to step it up and step out with some of our favorite notes on the holiday party scene.
When you hear cocktail attire, your first impulse is to grab a fabulous dress right? Hold on one second, though – although this is a traditional go-to, let’s try something different.
A fabulous statement blazer such as this Gucci double breasted floral jacquard jacket paired with gorgeous Nili Lotan black satin trousers or Hue faux leather pants and a great shoe is an edgy switch to the traditional cocktail dress. Wear with your hair slicked back and a statement earring and you are ready to sparkle!
Classic Slip Dress
The classic slip dress. Satin is having a moment. This wardrobe staple has made a tremendous comeback on the runway, and it will most certainly be hot on the party scene.
Incredibly feminine yet truly daring, this selection clings to the body, accentuating curves and or-ahem, undergarment line. The barely there straps sit on the shoulder allowing the décolletage and neckline to be the star of the show. Often, there is a very low-cut backline accompanying this lovely piece, which assures us that is this is total slip and chicken cutlet moment. Delicate jewelry, strappy sandals, and a bold lip complete this beautiful look.
One-shoulder dress or blouse. From Badgley Mischka to Pamella Roland, the one-shoulder look is alive and well on the runway and prominent in the evening wear department. Finding a great dress with a one-shoulder cut like this Norma Kamali one-shoulder ruched stretch-jersey dress in mustard is flattering on almost all body types, and it’s great with hair up or down. Grab a statement clutch, some simple cuffs, and linear earrings, and we are ready to glamazon!
Let us not forget the accessories, and it is time for plumes! The devil is in the details and apparently those details are feathers this year. Get a clutch like this little number and put that extra layer of frosting onto an already stunning outfit.
My favorite accessory? The shoe! Take this shoe for instance. The layered feathers add so much fun texture that it easily takes a simply look to another level.
When stepping out this holiday season, try something new and a little daring. We are sure to gather even – if it is in small groups – and so it is time to dust off those killer shoes that have been beckoning us for months! Go simple or go bold, but go, mama, go – and dress to thrill this holiday season.
