Whine to Dine

LUXYMOM®

Delicious, kid-friendly menus for the back-to-school grind

Oh dear, dinner time. You’ve worked all day and all you want to do is go home and have a lovely meal waiting for you. That’s the fantasy, isn’t it? You’re driving, visions of steak au poivre with asparagus and a fabulous wine play in your head. Can you smell it?

You imagine as you walk in the door, Debussy’s Rêverie is playing softly, the children all tidy greet you, “hello mother,” your house is spotless and there, through the doorway, is your significant other looking like a million bucks, just smiling.

Needle comes off the record, car behind you starts honking

Excuse me, come back down to reality lady – that is not happening today. You walk in the door; homework is on the table and questions start flying at you the second you set your things down. Yes, the Omega hath returned.

Now we all know we aren’t serving fancy dinners at home on a daily basis for two reasons: who has time (and if you do – well share some of that time with the rest of us) and the most obvious – the fruit of our loins.

If you are lucky enough to have a child that has an incredibly well-rounded, Michelin pallet, well, you get a LUXYMOM® star today. But for us mere mortals, it is an uphill battle and dinner time can be a struggle, especially now that school has started and you have a fussy eater.

But have no fear, LUXYMOM® is here! We did some digging and found some great kid friendly recipes to shake things up – replacing the whining with dining and you, you clever minx, get a glass of victory wine.

I searched all over the internet looking for a like-minded mama and I believe I found her. Ladies, let me introduce to the website Together as a Family. She had me at “Organized”. Her goal is “to help families eat together,” and these are her favorite back-to-school recipes to help keep us sane, yet deliciously gathered around the table as we get back to the grind of work and school. She even linked some truly sinful-looking treats on this blog post, so be sure to circle back to our article by Erika, owner of the Sand Barre, for your dose of fitness!
