It’s an art – here are the rules to the print mixing trend.
Mixing prints is either totally for you, or totally not. But if you’re print-curious, we can help you figure out how to do it in a way that makes a subtle statement without going overboard or looking gaudy.

Mixing similar prints
If you’re matching similar prints, mix one piece in a dainty version with one in a larger version. For example, if you want to mix polka dots, wear a top that has a mini-dot print, and mix it with a bottom that has a bolder, bigger version of the pattern.
This also applies to stripes, checks, ginghams, florals, and more.
You can even look for one pieces like the dress below, which mix differently sized patterns within the one garment.
Mixing different prints
We love to play the balance game, and similarly to above, it’s a nice idea weave in patterns of different sizes when mixing totally different prints all together.
Try mixing a mini-stripe top with a floral skirt, or a mini polka dot cami with a floral skirt, as in the images below.
Using Texture
Ever notice the beautiful, textured detail in an eyelet lace? The fabric is so perfect for summer, and it add an extra element of a slight print that can be mixed with so many others. Eyelet lace goes with so many prints, like stripes, polka dots, ginghams, and florals.
