Here’s what professional photographers must carry to get the perfect shot on a moment’s notice.
When you are a photographer you tend to have a variety of random devices on your person at any given time. Wallet? WHO NEEDS THAT when you have a lens kit and mini tri-pod? Ursula Gibbons, a Southwest Florida dynamo behind the lens, has been gracing the area with her photography skills for years now, and she has some tips and tricks for those that crave to see life from a different angle and behind the lens.

LUXYMOM®: As a photographer, you have a different take on what is a must have with you at all times. What is one of your must have items?
Ursula: A Canon 6D. I don’t leave home without it! Never know when I will need to tuck and roll out of the bushes to capture an epic wildlife pic!
LUXYMOM®: What is something small I will find in your bag that tends to be left everywhere?
Ursula: Bobby pins and hair ties! Always! Having a love of vintage hairstyles means I can re-create most looks with a few bobby pins and hair spray. Tuck and roll into the bushes looking like a skunk ape and come out looking like one of the Andrew Sisters? Darn right I can. 😉
LUXYMOM®: What is a life-saver that you carry with you at all times?
Ursula: Lens cleaning wipes. Just in-case I face plant during my tuck and roll and get a smudge on my camera lens. They’re also good for cleaning off my sunglasses and phone.
Speaking of sunglasses… I always have a pair of sunglasses that are strictly for holding my hair back. I think we all have that one pair that hugs the head just right without giving a “headband headache”. Plus, I think it looks cool.
LUXYMOM®: I know you, and although you tuck and roll in bushes, you are also a glamazon. What is one beauty product you always have with you?
Ursula: Lip Gloss – usually some shade of shimmery pink. It’s great over lipstick when it starts to fade, but it also adds a touch of color for those no makeup days. And also bug spray… It’s a Florida thing…
LUXYMOM®: Being a photographer, what is a tool you carry with you for those spontaneous shoots or interviews?
Ursula: A cell phone gimbal. No, not a selfie stick! This is a wonderful little piece of equipment that keeps your phone smooth and horizons straight while you shoot video.
LUXYMOM®: What is an unexpected item I would find in your bag?
Ursula: Waterproof medical tape. It’s great for marking the floor during a shoot, putting on the bottom of heels that you don’t want to scuff, to cover blisters when said heels come back for revenge, taping clothes into place, applying to the back of your ear lobe when wearing heavy earrings, holding gear in place and of course in case you get a boo boo…
