Your life saver during the season of Extra.
Imagine waking up, the house is quiet, or at least it will be for another glorious 20 minutes. You’re enjoying the first pumpkin spice latte of the season – and then you realize it. Yes momma, it’s the start of holiday season and all you can hear inside your mind is the music from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho… Eee, eee, eee, eee!
As lovely and magical as the holidays may be, this means you have to be extra and do extra. Extra groceries, extra cooking, cleaning, decorating, gifts, wrapping, shopping… extra fast at grabbing the Amazon packages from the porch before your husband sees the mass of Christmas Prime Cheer. We all do it, Momma. Then we skillfully hide said Christmas cheer from the rest of the family in a secure spot, making sure that you yourself don’t forget where that spot is later.
Christmas is still a few weeks away… so don’t panic, Thanksgiving, on the other hand is much closer, so now you can panic, or reach for a glass of Prosecco – I choose the Prosecco, thank you.
I know grocery stores have been no less than manic lately, and we all try and limit our time there, anyway. Imagining a trip to the local grocer for holiday fixings right now sends a slight chill down my spine, but here’s a great trick this year that will not only save you time while simultaneously saving your sanity, but it will also deliver Prosecco to your door when you need a refill! That is truly a treat and it’s called, Shipt.
Shipt is a grocery delivery company that not only delivers groceries to your door, but depending on your area, they will deliver ABC Liquor (Yes, Prosecco), Bed Bath & Beyond, Costco, CVS, Winn Dixie, Publix, HEB, Target, Petco, Party City, the list just goes on – and it varies based on your location nationwide!
For a small annual membership fee, all the holiday essentials for a delish family gathering are delivered to my door minus the stress. I hear you, though – what if I forget something? Or what if I need something other than groceries? The best part is, if it’s available at the store, it’s available on the Shipt app or website, which means it can be added to the list – and if you forget something, your shopper can add it in real-time once they start shopping.
My personal experience, to soothe the worried ladies who say this is too good to be true, was wonderful. I scheduled two orders, the first for Winn Dixie and the other for Publix. Why two orders you say? Well, the Prosecco was at Winn Dixie, so obviously. The second order required items from the Publix Deli counter, subs – they are amazing there.

Now, I have to admit that I was dubious of the sub order, because I know how busy the deli can be and things can get complicated quickly. The Shipt app is very user friendly. There are sections for special notes, items, special requests, substituting items that are missing – everything your personal shopper would need is there, not to mention that they do text and communicate with you through the entire experience, so for those of you who are a little OCD like me, it will all be okay, I promise.
My shopper, let’s call her Gloria, sent me a message when she started my Winn Dixie order, and she messaged me with questions on items that were out of stock, sent pictures of items that were suitable replacements, and was super helpful. We even had some laughs in the feminine products isle as she attempted to hunt down the right kind of Always for my pre-teen daughter who has just started her first flow – but that’s a story for another day.
Shortly after that, Gloria messaged me again when she was all done and checking out of Winn Dixie before heading to Publix for my subs. This is the part I was dreading, only because the deli at this store is always crowded and things take a while. I don’t know about you, but I despise a soggy sub. Yuck.
I let Gloria know my concerns – and to my surprise, she said she pre-ordered the subs I’d requested and she was walking up to the cooler case as the deli clerk placed them in there for her. Genius!
Since I was able to order and schedule my shop, while adding instructions on how I wanted the subs made, my shopper was able to be efficient – meaning no stress for me, groceries and essentials done, Prosecco on tap – lunch for the family beach trip is en route. Hurray! A win for Mom.
What this truly means is I will never have to run out to the grocery store late on a Sunday night because I forgot everything I needed for school lunches over the weekend. Not to mention, I will never need to run out of the house at any random time for anything, not even the cat food, or the mysterious school projects which are always due “tomorrow”.
Total game changer. Holidays – I’m ready. Or at least Shipt is, anyway.
